Do you need to repair or replace a tooth, or just to improve your oral health? Talk to our dentists in Glebe.
At Glebe Dental Group, we care about your family’s oral health. When you visit us for your regular check-ups, we’ll help to protect your teeth against decay and other infections and recommend any treatments that are needed to fix small problems before they get worse.

Whether you need to repair a damaged tooth, replace a missing tooth or protect your teeth and gums against injury, our team has extensive experience in a wide range of restorative and preventative treatments. We can also offer sedation options to help you relax and make your treatments comfortable.

Restorative care

If any of your teeth have been damaged by decay, chipped, cracked or been knocked out completely, we can help to restore your smile with natural-looking restorations. We’ll always do everything possible to repair a damaged tooth, and we’ll only ever remove a tooth after exhausting all options to save it.

When you make an appointment at our dental clinic, we’ll perform a thorough examination of your mouth and recommend any treatments that may be needed to restore the natural look, feel and function of your teeth and protect your oral health.

We’ll work with you to develop a tailored treatment plan that suits your individual needs. We’ll make sure you understand what these treatments involve and any risks and side-effects associated with them so you can make an informed decision.

Crowns

Dental crowns are one of the most common and versatile tooth restorations. Crowns are custom-made to fit over a damaged tooth and restore its original shape and appearance. They’re often used to strengthen a tooth that’s been affected by severe decay, fractured in an accident or been weakened by root canal therapy.

At Glebe Dental Group, we can fit porcelain or CEREC ceramic crowns made using state-of-the-art computer technology in our on-site laboratory. Both types of crowns are strong and natural-looking replacements for tooth enamel and should last for many years when you take good care of your oral health.

We also offer Rhondium One Visit Crowns. Call us to find out how we can help you.

Bridges

If you’re missing a tooth, or a tooth is too badly damaged to save and needs to be extracted, we may recommend a dental bridge to plug the gap and support the teeth on either side. A bridge consists of one or more false teeth joined together and secured by crowns placed over the remaining teeth on both sides of the space.

We’ll take an impression of your mouth and your custom bridge will be manufactured in a dental laboratory. It can then be fitted on your next appointment, when we’ll check that it fits correctly and feels comfortable before we secure it in place. With the correct care, a good oral hygiene routine and check-up appointments every six months with the Glebe Dental Group, your new bridge can last for 10-15 years.

Fillings

If you have cavities or you want to replace existing metal fillings, we offer tooth-coloured fillings to restore your smile to its natural appearance and protect it from further decay.

These fillings can be made from high quality porcelain, ceramic or a resin composite. They’re colour-matched to your tooth enamel to make them indistinguishable from the surrounding natural teeth, so they won’t stand out like old silver and black amalgam fillings.

Composite resin fillings are used to correct small blemishes and can be completed in a single appointment. Porcelain and ceramic fillings are custom-made from a detailed impression of your tooth and usually require two appointments.

Fissure sealants

If your back teeth (molars) have small pits or fissures, these can trap food and be difficult to brush, which increases your risk of tooth decay. We can fill these grooves with fissure sealant, a liquid resin similar in consistency to nail polish that sets hard after a few minutes. This makes the tooth smoother and easier to clean, creating a protective barrier against plaque, bacteria and cavities.

We often recommend fissure sealants for young children who find it hard to brush the teeth at the back of their mouths, but we offer this treatment for patients of all ages. The procedure only takes a few minutes for each tooth and the sealant will usually last for several years.

Inlays & onlays

Another option for repairing a damaged tooth is inlays or onlays. These restorations are a more conservative approach than a crown, as only a minimal amount of your tooth’s structure needs to be removed when restoring your smile.

Inlays are smaller restorations placed in the prepared area of a back molar tooth. Onlays are larger restorations placed on the surface area of a prepared tooth. At Glebe Dental Group, we can create and place a ceramic inlay or onlay in a single appointment using CEREC technology.

Preventative Dentistry

Prevention is always better than cure. That’s why we recommend you make an appointment with us every six months. This gives our dentists the chance to examine your mouth for any signs of problems, discuss new treatments you might be interested in, and to have your teeth professionally cleaned and treated.

Oral hygiene treatments

We have two experienced dental hygienists who can provide hygiene treatments to clean and protect your teeth and gums. We can professionally clean and scale your teeth to remove plaque and safely apply fluoride to strengthen your teeth enamel against decay.

We’ll also offer guidance to you and everyone in your family about the best ways to keep your teeth and gums healthy every day, including demonstrating the correct brushing and flossing techniques and recommending food and drink to avoid.

Mouthguards

If you or your child play sport or take part in other activities that put your teeth at risk of injury, we can provide a custom-fitted mouthguard to reduce this risk. We’ll take an impression of your teeth and create a custom mouthguard that fits over your teeth better than mouthguards bought in stores, making sure your teeth are as well protected as possible.

We can also provide mouthguards to help people suffering from obstructive sleep apnoea (OSA), who may snore loudly and wake up choking at night, or as a treatment for teeth grinding at night (bruxism).
